Design Features

Variable Cavity

The 12J63 coupling and the component parts conform to the requirements of the applicable Aerospace Standard AS1710 series.

Lightweight

The 12J63 is a variable cavity type coupling, designed for connecting flanged tube ends. This configuration provides weight savings because the overall width is substantially reduced.

Load Retention Safeguard

All pressure loads are retained by the split retainer that keeps the two tube ends from separating. This provides an extra safety factor, because in the unlikely event of a failure of the split retainer the pressure load would be picked up and retained by the nut and coupler shoulder.

Retighten Anytime

The coupling can be retightened at any time in service to increase sealing pressure on coupling seals.

Flexible

The coupling will provide a minimum ¼" axial adjustment and a maximum of ±4° angular misalignment.

1. Dimensions and procurement information for half coupling (12H63 series) applications is available upon request. The 12H63-(SIZE)(MATL) half coupling meets the requirements of Aerospace Standard AS1713(MATL)(SIZE).
2. The 12C63-(SIZE)A Sleeve Body material is 2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized with dichromate seal.
   The 12C63-(SIZE)C Body Assembly material is 300 series CRES or equivalent, passivated.
3. The 12N63-(SIZE)A Nut Assembly material is: Nut-2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized red with ID solid film lubricated. Ring-2024-T4 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized with dichromate seal. [AS1714D(SIZE)]. The 12N63-(SIZE)C Nut Assembly material is: Nut-15-5PH CRES, cadmium plated, with ID solid film lubricated. Ring-15-5PH CRES, cadmium plated. [AS1714C(SIZE)].
4. The 12R63-(SIZE)A Retainer Assembly material is 2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized with dichromate seal. [AS1717D(SIZE)]. The 12R63-(SIZE)C Retainer Assembly material is 17-4 PH CRES, passivated.
5. The 12W63-(SIZE)A Retainer Assembly material is 2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized. Solid film lubricated over entire part. [AS1715(SIZE)]. The 12W63-(SIZE)C Retainer Assembly material is 17-7 PH CRES, passivated. Solid film lubricated over entire part. [AS1715(SIZE)].
